Tennessee knows what they have in junior running back John Kelly, and freshman Ty Chandler has looked impressive in his limited action so far. But the Vols can’t keep riding Kelly and only occasionally spelling him with Chandler.

Carlin Fils-Aime looked strong against Indiana State, but he hasn’t seen much playing time other than that this season. And that’s why freshman Tim Jordan needs to see the field against UMass.

Jordan saw his only action of the season so far this year against Indiana State when he carried the ball four times for 22 yards. Tennessee needs to develop a better rotation at running back behind Kelly so he’s not the only one getting touches in the backfield, and Jordan has the physical tools to make some tough runs. He likely won’t be counted on a ton in SEC play, but he needs to get some live reps in a game like this.
