It all started with Ty Chandler’s touchdown return on the first play of the game.

The SEC Fresman of the Week got solid blocks out in front of him, but he did most of this work on his own. Dillon Bates seals the edge for Chandler as he gets to the second level, and that’s all he needed.
Chandler’s breakaway speed is very encouraging. Micah Abernathy made a good job holding off a tackler as Chandler broke free, but the freshman running back was gone anyways.
For a freshman, Chandler shows maturity beyond his years. He sees the cutback lane and bursts through it before it closes. Most younger players would have shown more indecisiveness in this situation. But Chandler knew exactly where he was going, recognizing the open lane as soon as it opened.
