Butch Jones spoke to the media on Wednesday during his weekly press conference, and he had some injury news and updates for some important Tennessee players.
Jones confirmed that Jauan Jennings will be out “indefinitely” with an injury. The junior wide receiver left the Vols’ first game of the 2017 season in the second quarter after being sandwiched in between two defenders. Jones wouldn’t specify what type of injury or the severity of it on Wednesday, saying only that it’s indefinite for now.
Jones also had some updates on two other Vols with starting roles.
Primary kick returner Evan Berry and defensive tackle Kendal Vickers will be “questionable” for Tennessee’s match-up with Indiana State on Saturday, September 9th. Vickers sustained an injury during Monday’s game.
Two other Vols, defensive tackle Shy Tuttle and receiver Josh Smith, were also listed as questionable according to Jones. Neither played in the season opener despite traveling with the team. Jones would add that Smith would be back on the practice field this week as the Vols prepare for the Sycamores.
