Deandre Johnson
Aside from Jonathan Kongbo, Kyle Phillips, and Darrell Taylor, the Vols are very young at defensive end right now. They’re going to have to rely on a true freshman in some capacity in their rotation, and first up in that rotation should be Deandre Johnson.
Johnson was an early enrollee for the Vols earlier this year, and that early work should pay dividends for him this season. With other freshmen such as Matthew Butler and Ryan Thaxton competing for playing time at the position, getting that leg up was huge for Johnson.
Redshirt freshman Ja’Quain Blakely will likely be the next man behind the Vols’ more experienced trio of defensive ends, but Johnson has the potential to be that fifth man who comes in during deeper rotations.

Shamburger will be the biggest gem & he’ll outplay many that were rated a lot higher than him over the next 3 to 5 years.
