10 Freshman Who Can Contribute Immediately for the Vols

Shawn Shamburger

Bob Shoop stated that Shawn Shamburger is “a little ahead” of the rest of Tennessee’s young cornerbacks right now in fall camp. That includes the aforementioned Terrell Bailey and also Cheyenne Labruzza. Both players were rated much higher than Shamburger coming out of high school.

In fact, Shamburger was one of the Vols’ lowest-rated players in their 2017 recruiting class. Shamburger was rates as the 1,008th overall player in the country according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. But right now, it’s looking as though the recruiting services may have missed out on him.

Shamburger probably won’t see the field a great deal as an actual corner, but he’s another player that has the ability to contribute right away on special teams.

  1. Shamburger will be the biggest gem & he’ll outplay many that were rated a lot higher than him over the next 3 to 5 years.
