10 Freshman Who Can Contribute Immediately for the Vols

Ty Chandler

John Kelly is the undoubted starter at running back for the Vols. But who will be his main support? Right now, it’s looking like it may be a true freshman. And that true freshman could be a special player for Tennessee.

Ty Chandler is the most talented and polished-looking running back of Tennessee’s trio of freshmen backs. Chandler has the size to come in and play immediately in the SEC, and he seems to have the speed and explosive ability needed as well. He’ll be at worst the Vols’ No. 3 running back to start the season, but don’t be surprised to see him splitting carries with Kelly by the end of the season.

Chandler has the ability to run between and around the tackles, and he has the kind of skill set that will be beneficial in the passing game too. Chandler should have a big impact on Tennessee’s offense as a freshman.

  1. Shamburger will be the biggest gem & he’ll outplay many that were rated a lot higher than him over the next 3 to 5 years.
