Stock Down
Brandon Johnson, WR
It’s not that Brandon Johnson has had a bad fall camp. Not at all. But some of his fellow wideouts have appeared to pass him up thanks to their early standout performances. Even freshman Josh Palmer has made more of an impact during open periods of practice than Johnson thus far. Johnson hasn’t looked bad by any means, but he’s failing to stand out in ways that the other wide receivers are.
Offensive line depth
The offensive line lost Chance Hall for the season when Butch Jones announced the junior would undergo season-ending surgery on his knee. That alone hurt the depth for the line. But lately, three Vol linemen have been sitting out the last couple practices. Trey Smith, Brett Kendrick, and Marcus Tatum have all been absent for at least one practice the past few days. Jones said their absence was “nothing significant” and it’s likely it’s just been precautionary, but the Vols don’t need any more linemen to go down. Tennessee has depth at the offensive line, but they don’t need to test it with any more injuries.
