Returning Starts by Position for the Vols

Cornerback

Shaq Wiggins: 21
Emmanuel Moseley: 19
Rashaan Gaulden: 9
Justin Martin: 8
Baylen Buchanan: 1

Total: 58

Surprisingly enough, the second-most experienced unit on the team are the cornerbacks. And that’s after the Vols lost both Cam Sutton and Malik Foreman to graduation after last season.

Shaq Wiggins has never played for the Vols, but he brings the most experience to this position group. During his time at Georgia and Louisville, Wiggins made 21 starts and was an honorable mention All-ACC corner in 2015. He is expected to compete for one of the main starting corner spots.

Emmanuel Moseley, the second-most experienced corner on the team, is a favorite to start at one of the two main corner spots. The other is Justin Martin. All three of these players are seniors and are playing their last season with the Vols.

Rashaan Gaulden’s starts have all come at the nickel corner position, and he’s expected to man that spot again this year. The only other corner to earn a start outside of those four is sophomore Baylen Buchanan, and he made his first and only career start so far as a freshman last season because of injuries at the position.

Just like at linebacker, the Vols’ corner group is inexperienced aside from the starters and immediate backups. An injury or two here could spell disaster for the unit.
