Tight End
Ethan Wolf: 35
Total: 35
Senior tight end Ethan Wolf almost has more career starts to his name than the rest of the Vols’ skill position players combined.
Tennessee’s receivers have 35 total returning starts in the group and the running backs have just one. The quarterbacks have none. That means the Vols’ quarterbacks, running backs, and receivers have 36 combined starts in their career. Wolf has 35 by himself.
Wolf has been around a while for the Vols. And he’s been consistent, even if his production hasn’t matched up to what was expected of him by fans. Wolf has brought down 67 receptions for 750 yards and four touchdowns in his collegiate career. No other Vol has more catches or receiving yards in their career currently on the Tennessee roster.
But Wolf is about it as far as experience goes for the Vols’ tight ends. Senior Jakob Johnson only has two catches for 10 yards in his career (Johnson began his career on defense and switched to tight end last season) and Wolf’s younger brother, Eli, only caught one pass for eight yards last year as a redshirt freshman.
And the rest of the scholarship tight ends on the Vols’ roster are either freshmen or redshirt freshmen.
Ethan Wolf is the Vols’ most experienced skill player on offense. But he’s the only tight end with any meaningful collegiate playing time on the roster right now.
