Tennessee’s basketball roster is finally complete for the 2017-18 season thanks to the late arrival of a highly-touted prospect.

Yves Pons, a 6-foot-6 forward out of France, has officially joined the Vols’ basketball team. He arrived on campus on Monday per a tweet sent out by the official Tennessee basketball Twitter.

Rick Barnes said earlier this summer that Pons would be a late addition because he was supposed to play for France’s national team in a FIBA tournament. But Barnes was optimistic Pons would join the team in late July, and that’s exactly when the international freshman came aboard.

The reason Pons is coming back so soon is because he’s been nursing a high ankle sprain and isn’t going to play in the tournament after all. Instead, he will join the Vols for their trip to Europe to compete overseas from August 2nd through the 12th.

Pons was rated as high as the No. 60 overall player in the country by 247Sports. The 247Sports Composite rankings had him as the 103rd overall player in the nation and listed as a four-star forward.
