Vols’ All-Decades Positions: Wide Receivers

The 2000s

Robert Meachem (2004-06)

Robert Meachem came into Tennessee with high expectations and largely failed to live up to them for his first couple years with the Vols. But then he exploded in the Vols’ opening game of the 2006 season against California, and the rest was history. Meachem hauled in five receptions for 182 yards and two scores to start the 2006 season, and he would end up with Tennessee records by the end of the year. Meachem’s 1,298 receiving yards in 2006 remains a school record for most receiving yards in a single season. His 11 touchdowns that year are still the third-most in a season in program history, and his 71 receptions are the fourth-most in a season. Meachem earned All-American honors in 2006 and finished his Tennessee career with 125 catches for 2,140 yards and 17 scores.

Denarius Moore (2007-10)

Though the teams he played for aren’t fondly remembered, Denarius Moore turned in an exceptional career with the Vols. Moore played two seasons with Phillip Fulmer as his head coach, one season with Lane Kiffin, and one season with Derek Dooley. Despite all the coaching attrition, Moore nearly eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for receiving yards in 2010 and finished his career with over 2,000 yards. Moore is in the top-10 in program history in receiving yards and touchdowns in a career. His 228 yards against South Carolina in 2010 are the second-most receiving yards in a single game in school history. Moore is the only Vol to have multiple 200 yard receiving games in a career, as he totaled 205 yards against Kentucky in 2010 as well. Moore finished his Tennessee career with 112 catches for 2,004 yards and 18 scores.
