The 2000s
Cedric Houston (2001-04)
Although his teammate Gerald Riggs Jr. was more highly-touted, Cedric Houston ended up with the more productive Tennessee career. Houston twice ran for over 700 yards in 2002 and 2003 and capped off his career with 1,005 yards and eight touchdowns in 2004. He and Riggs became the first pair of Vol teammates to total 1,000 yards in the same season. Houston finished his career with a 5.4 yard per carry average and 2,634 rushing yards. His career rushing mark is still the seventh-most in school history.
Arian Foster (2005-08)
A good portion of Vol fans only remember the bad of Arian Foster’s career at Tennessee, chiefly his fumbles in some of Tennessee’s bigger games during his career. But despite those moments, Foster is still one of the most successful running backs in school history. Only the school’s all-time leading rusher, Travis Henry, has more career rushing yards than Foster. And if not for the disaster that was the 2008 Tennessee offense, Foster would likely be the Vols’ all-time leading rusher. Foster finished his collegiate career with 2,964 yards and 23 rushing touchdowns. He also hauled in 83 receptions for 742 yards and two scores in his career.
