Dewey Warren (1965-67)

Dewey Warren has the distinction of being the first Tennessee quarterback to throw for more than 1,000 in a season. And he did it twice, throwing for 1,716 yards in 1966 and 1,053 yards in 1967. Warren and coach Doug Dickey helped usher in a new era of Tennessee football, abandoning the “wing T” formation for a “wide-open T” formation that saw the quarterback throw far more often than run. Warren’s 1,716 passing yards in a single season was a Vol record and would not be surpassed until Alan Cockrell in 1982.

Bobby Scott (1968-70)

As a starter, Bobby Scott owned a 20-3 record while at Tennessee. Only Tee Martin (22-3) has a better winning percentage in school history. Scott helped the Vols to an SEC Championship in 1969 and a Sugar Bowl victory in 1970 while throwing for 3,371 yards and 30 TDs in his three seasons as a Vol.
