UT Draft Predictions: Rounds 2-7

Joshua Dobbs

Daniel:
The pick: Jacksonville Jaguars, No. 68 overall (3rd round)

Rationale: New Jags coach Doug Marrone has some Tennessee ties. He’s well aware of what Dobbs can do, and with the Jaguars needing some insurance for Blake Bortles, who hasn’t proven he can be the long-term answer, Dobbs is a nice upside pick in the third round, if he’s still there. It wouldn’t stun me to see a team jump up and grab him in the second, but I think some of the lingering questions about accuracy, ultimately, drop him to at least the third.

Nathanael:
The pick: Cleveland Browns, No. 65 overall (3rd round)

Rationale: I don’t know if he’ll be taken with the first pick of the third round, but I think somehow, some way, Dobbs ends up with the Cleveland Browns. They’ve courted him too much for me to think they’re not serious about taking him. They may make a trade earlier in the draft that gives them another third round pick, or they may trade during the third round to get a pick. Regardless, I think Dobbs is taken by the Browns in the third round.
