The Vols continue to stock up on the recruiting trail this week.

Tennessee picked up a commitment from 2019 cornerback/athlete Adonis Otey of Murfreesboro, Tenn., on Thursday afternoon, giving the Vols their second firm pledge in the class of 2019 and their fifth total commitment in the past week – six if you include graduate transfer Shaq Wiggins.

The Blackman High School product chose Tennessee over an impressive early offer list that includes LSU, Florida, Louisville and several others.

Ranked as a three-star prospect and the No. 15 overall player in the state in 2019 by 247Sports, Otey also provides an important link to at least a couple other top targets in the upcoming classes for the Vols – teammates Master Teague, a running back prospect in the 2018 class, and receiver Trey Knox, a top receiver in the 2019 class.

Tennessee has hit the in-state route hard in 2019 thus far, collecting commitments from Otey and athlete Cameron Wynn out of Chattanooga. Receivers Kendrell Scurry and T.J. Sheffield out of Independence High School in Franklin, Tenn., are also committed, though 247Sports lists both as “soft commits” at this point as they evaluate options following the departure of receivers coach Zach Azzanni.
