Incoming running backs
Some of the biggest winners might not have actually been on campus. That’s because this spring confirmed the lack of depth that Tennessee has at running back. With John Kelly out for the spring game, the Vols had just one scholarship back – Carlin Fils-aime – to play before turning to walk-ons. Fils-aime wasn’t bad, but he also didn’t lock down much on the running back depth chart.
That opens up opportunities for the freshmen coming in, particularly highly-touted back Ty Chandler from Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, to claim a spot as the backup or maybe even 1B back to compliment Kelly.
