Secondary
Tennessee’s secondary was one of their biggest weaknesses in 2016, and the unit did little to change that narrative on Saturday. The secondary wasn’t constantly burned on deep pass after deep pass, but that might only be because the offense didn’t take too many shots deep. Time and time again the secondary wasn’t in the right spot or let a receiver make a catch and pick up a solid chunk of yardage. There was only one occasion where a defensive back made a solid play, and that was on Jarrett Guarantano’s lone incompletion when D.J. Henderson had a good read on the ball and jumped the route, nearly picking off the pass. Otherwise, Saturday’s performance was less than appealing.
