7. Tennessee
The Vols come in right in the middle of this list. With 12 NCAA Tournament appearances, five Sweet Sixteens, and one Elite Eight, Tennessee is middle of the pack in the SEC.
All five of the Vols’ Sweet Sixteen trips have been in the new millennium. Tennessee made the Sweet Sixteen in 2000, 2007, 2008, 2010, and 2014 and made their only Elite Eight appearance in 2010. The Vols never made it past the first two rounds of the tournament from 1985-1999 and only won one tournament game in that span.
Most of Tennessee’s NCAA Tournament success has come in the last two decades. But it’s enough success to separate them from the bottom half of the conference.
