DE Derek Barnett

Broad jump: 117 inches
3-cone drill: 6.96 seconds
20-yard shuttle: 4.44 seconds
Barnett confirmed everything we already though about him before he went to Indianapolis. He’s tough, a competitor, relentless and reliable. That was all on display in Indianapolis as he decided to go ahead and participate in drills despite battling an illness that reportedly caused him to lose around six pounds leading up to the combine. Barnett still competed in five of the seven possible drills and posted an impressive 6.96 second mark in the three-cone drill – a test of explosion and agility. His other numbers were mediocre, proving something else we already thought about him – he’s not a workout warrior. He will never match the freak status of the Jadeveon Clowneys and Myles Garretts of the word, but he’s an incredibly safe pick who should be a 10+ year pro.
