Scouting report:
Camron Johnson has all the tools to be a successful wideout in the SEC. The track and basketball star has drawn comparisons to former Brentwood Academy standout Jalen Ramsey due to his versatility and athleticism.
Johnson is great at high-pointing the ball and attacking deep in the secondary. He also took a lot of handoffs in the motion shotgun set. Whether it was on a handoff or an inside screen pass, Johnson displays exceptional vision with the ball in his hands.
He’s truly a matchup nightmare because he can lineup anywhere on the line of scrimmage. Many of his snaps in high school were in the slot, freeing him up for quick outs to the sideline or quick slants inside. It was one of those quick outs from the slot that won his Brentwood Academy team a state championship on a two-point conversion in overtime.
Overall, Johnson’s size and quickness translates very well to the SEC. He’s quick off the line of scrimmage and breaks away well from defenders once he has an opening. Johnson will be one of Tennessee’s top targets in the state this year.
Expect a close battle with Ohio State for his services come February.
