The good news for Zach Azzanni is that he finally produced a breakout, true No. 1 receiver in 2016 in Josh Malone. The bad news? He left early for the NFL. Jauan Jennings certainly showed that he can be relied on as well, but outside of him, it’s mostly question marks at this spot. Veteran Josh Smith will be on the sideline this spring with a groin injury. Tyler Byrd’s position future is uncertain. That leaves a handful of second-year players such as Marquez Callaway, Brandon Johnson, Jeff George and Latrell Williams a lot of opportunities this spring to prove that they can contribute before the freshmen arrive over the summer. Those four players had a combined nine catches last year, so, while there’s talent, there will also be a lot to prove.
