As you may have seen on Wednesday, comedian Daniel Tosh and Tennessee’s official Twitter account had a humorous exchange about Tosh’s resemblance to Lane Kiffin and the fact that he’s coming to Knoxville.
You can see that here if you’d like.
Well, an Alabama website tried to get in on the fun, but it didn’t go very well at all.
Lane Kiffin, you know, the only man to burn Tennessee worse than General Sherman on his march to the sea. pic.twitter.com/LqSMyvXmKc

While it was a noble effort, the history is significantly off here. General William T. Sherman’s 1864 “march to the sea” started in Atlanta, Ga., and ended in Savannah, Ga. It had nothing to do with Tennessee.
Of course, plenty jumped in to the conversation to point how wrong the tweet was.
