Offensive Line
Tennessee’s biggest area of concern in the 2018 class is their offensive line. The Vols hauled in a solid group of offensive linemen in the 2017 class that was headlined by five-star offensive tackle Trey Smith. But with several offensive linemen set to graduate in the coming years, Tennessee will need to hit that unit hard again this recruiting cycle.
The Vols have five senior offensive linemen on the roster, and three of them are projected starters for the 2017 season. Jashon Robertson, Coleman Thomas, and Brett Kendrick will all graduate after this season, as will Thomas Edwards and Austin Sanders. Then Chance Hall and Jack Jones will be seniors heading into the 2018 season.
Tennessee already has a big-time offensive line commitment in the 2018 class. Five-star offensive lineman Cade Mays, whose father Kevin Mays played for Tennessee, has been committed to the Vols for a year and a half already. Mays is considered the No. 12 overall player in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, and there are a number of other talented offensive linemen within state borders. The Vols have also already offered and are pursuing some of the top offensive line talent in other states across the nation.
Offensive line will be Tennessee’s top priority in the 2018 class, and they’re off to a good start at that position.
