A Look at the Top 2018 In-State Targets for the Vols

4. Camron Johnson, WR

Often times, getting in early on a prospect bodes well for the potential of landing said prospect when the time comes for them to announce. The Vols are hoping that’s the case with wide receiver Camron Johnson.

The Vols offered Johnson way back in November of 2014. Over two years later, Johnson is now a four-star receiver and has been offered by over half a dozen other schools. Johnson, who plays for Brentwood Academy, has offers from LSU, Auburn, Ole Miss, Duke, and others. Johnson not only plays football at Brentwood Academy, but he’s also on the basketball and track team as well. Tennessee has also offered Johnson a basketball scholarship.

Johnson doesn’t have excessive size (6-foot-1, 182 pounds), but he does have the kind of speed recruiters look for when a receiver doesn’t have a huge body. He unofficially visited the Vols twice last season and attended Tennessee’s satellite camp in Nashville back in June of last year as well.

Tennessee values the type of receiver Johnson is and already has a handful of receivers on the roster with a similar skill set. So it makes sense the Vols are pursuing Johnson as much as they are.
