A Look at the Top 2018 In-State Targets for the Vols

10. Rayshad Williams, DB

The Vols missed out on some of their top cornerback targets in the 2017 class but still managed to add three corners in that class. But that position figures to be a priority in the 2018 class, and Rayshad Williams fits what the Vols are looking for.

Williams, a three-star defensive back out of Whitehaven in Memphis, has an extremely large frame for a cornerack. At 6-foot-4, Williams may be better suited to play safety. Regardless of his future position in college, Williams is still someone the Vols are targeting and could use in their defensive backfield.

Tennessee offered Williams on November 17th of 2016, and he’s picked up offers from Ole Miss, Memphis, and Arkansas in the mean time. The Vols were the first team to offer Williams. He also unofficially visited Alabama shortly after picking up his offer from Tennessee.

Williams is a big hitter and knows how to use his size advantage at the high school level. He plays corner for Whitehaven, but his ceiling may be larger at safety given his size and style of play. And luckily for the Vols, they also have a need for safeties in their 2018 class.
