The Vols had to hit this position hard, and they did with a pair of safeties and three cornerbacks. The in-state duo of Maleik Gray and Theo Jackson could be really good. Gray is a bit more of an in-the-box type of safety, while Jackson has great range and athleticism. But it will be the three corners in this class that ultimately determine how valuable this group is. Tennessee needs help at corner immediately. The Vols will turn to three players – Cheyenne Labruzza, Shawn Shamburger and Terrell Bailey – who all have some upside, but none were rated extremely high. Labruzza (Albany, La.) might be the best of that bunch. LSU pushed for him late, but the Vols were able to hold the in-state Tigers off, something that’s extremely difficult to do in recruiting. Tennessee needs to find the next Cam Sutton in this group because this position needs an upgrade.
