10 Bold Predictions For The Class of 2017

3. Cheyenne Labruzza will be the first to have his black stripe removed

The defensive backs are my favorite part of this class, hands down. New defensive backs coach Charlton Warren will have his hands full with young talent from an elite group featuring Labruzza, Shawn Shamburger, Theo Jackson, Terrell Bailey, and Maleik Gray. They enter another positional group that will be tapping into the reserves not too long from now. Peachtree Ridge products Nigel Warrior and Baylen Buchanan will look to anchor the secondary in the near future, with Justin Martin/Emmanuel Moseley fighting for a corner spot, Micah Abernathy and Todd Kelly Jr. locking down the safety positions, and several other guys in the mix. Labruzza is the one I like out of the newcomers though. He’s a freak athlete who played both ways in high school. We know that he’s smart too; he maintained a 4.25 GPA in high school, and I fully believe he comes in with an advanced understanding of the game and an ability to learn on-the-go. Bob Shoop has a lot to like over here, and come spring practice, I believe Labruzza is the first to be “initiated” with the removing of his helmet stripe.
