Top WR Commitment Reaffirms Pledge To UT

Tennessee’s top receiver commitment says he’s not changing his plans.

Four-star Jordan Murphy, ranked as the as the No. 30 receiver in the nation and the No. 232 player overall by 247Sports, visited Ole Miss over the weekend, but going by what he’s said on Twitter, that shouldn’t be any worry to Tennessee fans.

Murphy responded to one report and several fans on Twitter that he’s a “Vol For Life,” indicating that he’s planning on following through with his pledge to sign with Tennessee when National Signing Day rolls around on Wednesday.

Obviously anything can happen in recruiting, and we’ve seen crazier things, but Murphy’s tweets should be reassuring for Tennessee fans. He is arguably one of the most important pieces in this 2017 class for the Vols. While not the highest-rated player in the class, he is a polished receiver who had nearly 1,700 yards and 21 touchdowns in a breakout senior season for Hattiesburg (Miss.) High School.

With leading receiver Josh Malone heading to the NFL early, Preston William’s midseason transfer and other attrition and injuries affecting the position heading into 2017, the Vols very well may rely on Murphy to help out from Day 1.
