Jeff Thomas, WR
Jeff Thomas is the highest-rated player scheduled to visit the Vols in the final two weeks of the 2017 recruiting cycle. Thomas is listed as the No. 51 overall player in the country according to the 247Sports Composite and is the 7th-best wide receiver in the nation. And the Vols only offered him on December 31st.
Tennessee has a ton of ground to make up if they want to land Thomas. Getting him in for an official visit on January 27th is a good move, but it may be too little too late. Miami appears to be the favorites to land Thomas, and other schools have more familiarity with Thomas than the Vols do at this point.
Thomas picked up an offer from the Vols just mere days after picking up an offer from Oregon as well. Throw in offers from Alabama, Auburn, Michigan, and Florida State, and this wide receiver from East St. Louis has his pick of the litter.
If the Vols can somehow pick up Thomas, it will be a major coup in the waning days of the 2017 recruiting cycle. But Tennessee is playing catch-up at this point.
