Quaterback
Commitments: Will McBride (3-star, dual-threat)
Tennessee once had five-star quarterback Hunter Johnson committed in this class, but that was several, several months ago. Then the Vols picked up a commitment from three-star C.J. Lewis in late July before the two parted ways in the fall.
Now the Vols seem to finally have settled on their quarterback in the 2017 class.
Will McBride pledged his commitment to Tennessee on December 13th, and his commitment finally gave the Vols a quarterback in their 2017 class. McBride may not be the highest-rated quarterback in the 2017 cycle, but his stats at Clear Springs in League City, Texas are certainly impressive.
McBride threw for 2,032 yards, 23 touchdowns, and just four interceptions as a senior while also running for 359 yards on 80 attempts while scoring twice on the ground as well. In his career, McBride has thrown for 4,730 yards, 52 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions while completing 56.3 percent of his passes in three seasons. McBride has also run for 984 yards and 17 touchdowns on 263 carries.
McBride is listed at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, so he doesn’t have the typical size coveted at the collegiate level. But his tape shows he has the ability to make plays, and he’ll help boost the depth at quarterback for the Vols.
