Chris Weinke

Quick bio: After a stint in minor league baseball, Chris Weinke returned to college football at Florida State and became the oldest player to ever win the Heisman Trophy at age 28. He was a fourth-round pick in the 2001 NFL Draft and stuck around professionally for seven years, primarily as a backup. He went on to become the football director at the IMG Academy in Florida before becoming the quarterbacks coach for the Rams in 2015. A report from 247Sports says that Weinke is in town to interview for a spot on the staff on Friday.

Pros: Weinke is another household name in the quarterback community that would bring credibility to coaching that position. He has ties in Florida after his time at the IMG Academy, and he might be available with the Rams shaking up their coaching staff this offseason.

Cons/Questions: He also doesn’t have major play-calling experience, and the early development of No. 1 overall pick quarterback Jared Goff wasn’t too impressive in L.A. this past season.
