Larry Scott
Quick bio: A longtime assistant at South Florida, Scott jumped to Miami in 2013 as a tight ends coach and was elevated to interim head coach in 2015 after Al Golden was fired and led the Hurricanes to a 4-2 finish. After he was passed over for that job on a full-time basis, he caught on as tight ends coach and special teams coordinator for the Vols in 2016.
Pros: Scott is a respected coach who has had his name thrown around for other head coaching opportunities this offseason. He has experience coaching running backs, offensive line and tight ends, so he has a great grasp for several different parts of the offense.
Cons/Questions: Outside of that six-game stint as the interim head coach at Miami, Scott has no major experience as anything more than a position coach. He’s never called plays at a high level.
