8. Basketball Vols to Make Noise in SEC
It’s been a while since the basketball Vols have been a team to watch out for in SEC play. Tennessee hasn’t finished in the upper half of the conference since finishing fourth in the 2013-14 season, Cuonzo Martin’s final year as head coach. They finished 10th in Donnie Tyndall’s lone season and 12th in Rick Barnes’ first year last season.
The Vols are a combined 13-25 in conference play over the last two seasons. It’s time for that to change.
This year’s Vol squad isn’t the most talented group, but it’s proven in close losses to great teams that it has potential. And with the SEC being as down as it’s ever been, this year is a great opportunity for the Vols to catch some teams off guard and finish better than they have in the SEC the last few seasons. The Vols are a talented young team that should be able to compete with most teams in the SEC. It’s time to go prove that.
