Game 3 – Ohio
In what can only be described as a boring, mundane, and ugly game, the Vols hosted the Ohio Bobcats for their final non-conference game before the SEC slate started. Tennessee never trailed, but Ohio kept it close the entire game, never trailing by more than nine points the entire contest. Ohio cut Tennessee’s lead to 21-19 with about a minute left in the third quarter, and it wasn’t until Josh Malone hauled in a 20-yard score with 11 minutes left in the game that Tennessee finally had some sort of control over the Bobcats.
The two teams combined for just over 700 total yards, and neither team was particularly efficient. The Vols just had more talent and were able to sleepwalk their way to a victory.
