Overall Regular Season Grade

Tennessee’s SEC East title aspirations to start the season crashed and burned down the stretch because of the Vols’ own lackluster play. The Vols started out 5-0 on the season only to collapse late and end the year on a 3-4 skid. An 8-4 overall record isn’t bad, but considering the expectations before the season and the talent on the roster, it’s nothing short of a disappointment.

The 2016 regular season won’t go down as a complete failure for the Vols. There were still bright spots. But it’s hard to feel extremely optimistic about the season as a whole given how it ended.
