Barnett, Dobbs Rack up More Offseason Accolades

Tennessee defensive end Derek Barnett was voted an Associated Press All-American on Monday, becoming the first Vol since Eric Berry (2009) to make the list.

Barnett was named a Second Team All-American by Sporting News last week. Other AP First Team All-Americans on the defensive line include Texas A&M’s Myles Garrett and Alabama’s Jonathan Allen. Barnett was also named a Walter Camp First Team All-American last week.

The accolades didn’t stop there for Tennessee on Monday. Quarterback Joshua Dobbs was named the Athlon SEC Offensive Player of the Year.

Dobbs is the fourth Tennessee quarterback to receive this award. He joins the company of Shuler, Martin and Manning.

On Monday Dobbs, along with defensive back Cam Sutton, accepted invitations to play in the Senior Bowl. In just six games this season, Sutton posted 22 tackles, one interception and two tackles for loss. Dobbs led the SEC with 26 passing touchdowns and a 152.6 passer efficiency rating.

The Senior Bowl is played in Ladd-Peoples Stadium in Birmingham on January 28th. It will be broadcasted on ESPN at at 2:30 p.m. ET on NFL Network.
