A timely Micah Abernathy interception in the first half that set up a quick score for the Vols was the one and only bright spot for this unit. Vanderbilt’s wide receivers consistently beat Tennessee’s defensive backs and got superior position seemingly every time the ball was in the air. Kyle Shurmur, a quarterback who never threw for more than 300 yards in his career, scorched Tennessee for 416 yards. It looked like 2012 all over again on Saturday night.
