Tennessee came out flat and really needed two and a half quarters to completely wake up. The defense continues to give up absurd numbers. But some credit is due because the Vols got a couple big turnovers and a few timely stops as well. That doesn’t excuse the defensive performance, but it continues the trend of doing enough to win the past few weeks. Offensively, everything is clicking right now. Mike DeBord, who faced a ton of criticism earlier in the season, deserves some credit, though level of competition certainly plays into it.

It was somewhat of a disappointing day overall because UT lost out on a chance to win the SEC, and Butch Jones didn’t exactly own that in the postgame, but the Vols did take care of what they could on Saturday, and that’s all you can ask on this day.
