Tennessee lost any shot at making the College Football Playoffs a few weeks back by falling at South Carolina.
But the newly-updated College Football Playoff rankings gave the Vols some respect on Tuesday evening – putting them at No. 19 – significantly higher than either the AP or the Coaches’ Poll this week, both of which have the Vols outside the Top 25.
The College Football Playoff Selection Committee releases six sets of rankings between Tuesday, Nov. 1, and concluding on Selection Day, which is Sunday, Dec. 4.
The Vols make their debut in the rankings this week with Alabama still on top, followed by Ohio State, Michigan and Clemson. Two of the top four, Michigan and Clemson, are coming off losses last weekend.
