Tennessee defensive tackle Shy Tuttle was lost for the season last week with a knee injury – marking the second consecutive year that he suffered a season-ending injury.
The Vols honored him before the game by carrying his jersey through the “T”.
Tuttle appeared in six games in 2015 and seven this year. He has 19 career tackles, a TFL and a a fumble recovery for the Vols.
Tennessee is down to one experienced scholarship defensive tackle – Kendal Vickers – for the rest of the season after losing Tuttle, Kahlil McKenzie and Danny O’Brien (dismissed) for the season. Quay Picou, Kyle Phillips and Jonathan Kongbo are among the players helping fill in next to Vickers for the Vols’ remaining three regular-season games and the postseason.
Tuttle, McKenzie, linebacker Quart’e Sapp and linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin are among the players confirmed out for the year for Tennessee.
