Some notes and observations from the open portion of practice on Tuesday afternoon as the Vols get ready for Homecoming against Tennessee Tech.
Non-contact
Cornerback Malik Foreman and safety Evan Berry were the only two players with green non-contact jerseys.
Foreman has missed the past few weeks, but he looked active as he was returning punts.
Evan Berry played extensively in the secondary and on special teams against South Carolina. He returned his first kickoff of the season for a 100-yard touchdown. It looks like his green jersey is just a precautionary measure.
Returners
The secondary looks like it could get a boost this week as both Malik Foreman and Micah Abernathy both returned to the practice field. Abernathy was a game-time decision on Saturday but did not end up playing.
Positivity Abounds
Coming off a loss to South Carolina, the overall vibe of practice seemed to be strong. A lot of the players were verbal and excited during the stretching period.
There was no uncertainty surrounding Jonathan Kongbo as he was clapping, jumping, and being verbal during stretching. Along with him, Nigel Warrior and Quinten Dormady were also seen being very active during stretches.
Circle of Life
Immediately after stretches, Coach Jones rounded up the team for a few Circle of Life repetitions.
- Nigel Warrior def. Marquez Callaway
- Ethan Wolf and Eli Wolf ended in a stalemate
- Charles Mosley def. Drew Richmond
- Jauan Jennings def. Justin Martin twice
Offensive Line
In a one-on-one drill against the defensive line, the first five on the offensive line were RT Chance Hall, RG Dylan Wiesman/Jack Jones, C Coleman Thomas, LG Jashon Robertson, and LT Brett Kendrick.
