Former Lady Vol Candace Parker – one of the most famous players to ever play under Pat Summitt – won her first WNBA title on Thursday evening, scoring 28 points and recording 12 rebounds in a 77-76 win for the L.A. Sparks over the Minnesota Lynx in a deciding Game 5.
Parker was also named Finals MVP.
Parker, who earlier dedicated the season to Summitt after she passed away in June, was overcome with emotion after the game as she again dedicated the title to her former coach:
