Butch Jones joined 104.5 The Zone in Nashville on Thursday afternoon for one of his last media appearances before the Texas A&M game on Saturday.
After saying Hurd was “full go” for practice on Monday, Jones backed that down to “day to day” on Wednesday, and then gave the latest update on Thursday about Hurd’s status:
Asked if Jalen Hurd will play at TX A&M, @UTCoachJones said, "It's going to be a game time decision." Didn't offer detail on the injury.

We can’t confirm or deny if he’ll play, but it doesn’t sound great, honestly. When players are downgraded during the week, it’s generally not a great sign. The Vols could very well be forced to rely on Alvin Kamara and John Kelly in College Station on Saturday.
Jones also confirmed on “Vol Calls” on Wednesday evening that linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr., who was previously listed as “day to day” will miss the A&M game. Jalen Reeves-Maybin and Cam Sutton are confirmed out as well.
