Jones: Florida Crowd “Has To Be Electric”

Neyland Stadium-1

It’s Florida week, Smokey gray week and Checker Neyland week.

And Butch Jones is calling for an “electric” crowd.

“We need a great home field advantage,” Jones said to the media earlier this week. “We need to get back to that and we need to do our part in providing some momentum.”

Florida quarterback Austin Appleby downplayed the effects of Neyland’s crowd noise on Tuesday, but Jones disagrees.

“It has to be electric – it has to be loud,” Jones said. “That’s one of the advantages of playing in Neyland Stadium is the home field advantage.”

Jones added that he’d like to get the crowd more involved on third down as well. Without “Third Down for What” playing, there’s been a much different atmosphere on those plays this season.

With an 11-game losing streak on the line and College Gameday in town, Saturday’s game against the Gators should provide a raucous atmosphere in Neyland Stadium.

“I’ve been indebted to our fan base,” Jones added. “We need to make Neyland extremely electric and I know our fan base will.”
