The Vols will wear their Smokey gray uniforms against Florida on Saturday, a Tennessee official confirmed to the media on behalf of Butch Jones on Monday afternoon.
Tennessee last wore them against Georgia in 2015 in a 38-31 come-from-behind victory over the Bulldogs. That was also the debut of the Nike Smokey gray look. Tennessee donned an Adidas version of the uniform twice in 2013 – falling to Georgia and Vanderbilt that season.
UT players downplayed the significance of the uniform switch this year.
“We’re just more focused on winning the game, rather than what we look like,” said safety Micah Abernathy, echoing similar thoughts from defensive end Corey Vereen.
