Tennessee senior defensive end Corey Vereen has all the incentive in the world to beat Florida.
He’s from the Sunshine State, he’s lost three straight times to the Gators, and is now a starter on one of UT’s most talented teams in years that has a legitimate shot to end the 11-year losing streak to Florida. And if that wasn’t enough, Vereen also has a longtime girlfriend that attends the University of Florida.
“I definitely make it a priority to beat them every year,” Vereen told the media on Monday afternoon.
Vereen didn’t go into many more details other than saying that his conversations are brief with his girlfriend on UT-Florida weeks. The Winter Garden, Fla., native made his career debut against the Gators in 2013, and recorded three stops and a TFL in the 2015 matchup as well.
He’ll have one more shot to end the streak for the Vols, and get some bragging rights in his relationship in 2016.
