Tennessee, at least briefly, started fast, but again didn’t look particularly inspired for much of the game. The Vols were incredibly sloppy – putting the ball on the ground five times, committing nine penalties and numerous other self-inflicted wounds. These are things Butch Jones-coached teams haven’t done consistently. And credit Jones for owning that in the postgame, and saying that’s on him to get it fixed.

Bob Shoop’s defense was a bit shaky, but he continues to make adjustments, and that unit has been bend-but-don’t-break for much of the season. Offensively, it was good to see Alvin Kamara more involved, but this unit, led by Mike DeBord, was still certainly stale and predictable at times.
