1. Full Circle
Perhaps the most rewarding thing about this year’s SEC Media Days was seeing tangible evidence of the maturation of this football program. The media selecting UT to win the East was one such piece of evidence.
But the most compelling piece might have been Tennessee’s player representatives. There was a certain full-circle brand of satisfaction in seeing Cam Sutton, Jalen Reeves Maybin and Joshua Dobbs represent the university. Not just because each has been such a great Volunteer both on and off the field, but also because all three were part of Butch’s first-ever class. The one that started it all.
Easy to forget that Jones had just 31 days to put that class together. Easier, still, to forget Joshua Dobbs’ eleventh hour flip from Arizona St to Tennessee.
But it’s impossible to forget the impact these three leaders and Butch’s first class have had on the program.
