With one week remaining before the kickoff to Tennessee’s season, the preseason accolades continue to roll in for UT players.
Four Vols were named First-Team All-SEC by the league’s coaches on Thursday morning: Derek Barnett (defensive line), Jalen Reeves-Maybin (linebacker), Cam Sutton (defensive back) and Evan Berry (return specialist). Both Berry and Reeves-Maybin tied for first-place honors at their respective positions.
Tennessee was well-represented on the other teams as well. Quarterback Joshua Dobbs and running back Jalen Hurd are both on the second-team offense.
Offensive lineman Jashon Robertson, punter Trevor Daniel and Cam Sutton (return specialist) were all named to the third team as well, giving the Vols eight different players total on the teams with one (Sutton) on two different teams.
Alabama and LSU led the way with 13 total players represented in the 14th annual selections by the league’s head coaches. Coaches are not permitted to vote for their own players.
