5 Newcomers Who Will Make an Early Impact

2. Nigel Warrior (Fr.), Safety

The son of Vol legend Dale Carter, Nigel Warrior, was one of the most prized recruits from the 2016 class. Warrior was ranked as the nation’s No. 58 overall prospect, and held offers from the likes Alabama, Ohio State, LSU and Georgia. Warrior stated that with so many coaching changes at schools like Georgia and LSU, he felt that Tennessee was home. The four-star defensive back from Peachtree Ridge High School (Suwannee, GA) is already living up to the hype as a freshman.

Warrior is a newcomer that will make an impact early in his career. He was ranked the second fastest player on the TenneSpeed board with a top speed of 21.6 mph. Just as a sophomore in one of the toughest divisional classes in Georgia, he recorded 61 tackles and an interception. That alone shows Warrior is capable of making a difference early on against the toughest competition. He has been turning heads all camp, enough so that he was the second player to have his helmet stripe removed. It looks like Warrior will be included in the two-deep rotation at safety early on, so do not be surprised if he makes a great impact in his first year on Rocky Top.
